One thing to keep in mind is that every end-users networking and internet environment is different - and at SecureTunnel we never stop working to improve our products and services to make sure they work as fast and efficient as possible in all environments.
Due to the encrypted nature of our networking, one thing that often interferes with our services are "software firewalls" or other so called "internet security suites". Norton, Avast, and Kaspersky are a few providers of these applications - and in fact most antivirus software will contain some kind of "network protection" service. These "software firewalls" will often block SecureTunnel applications and provide no warning of their doing so. If you're having problems connecting - and you're using an antivirus or network protection application - try disabling these first, and attempting your SecureTunnel connection. If this succeeds, you'll need to add an exception or rule to your antivirus or internet security application to allow SecureTunnel to connect. Each application will vary in how these exceptions are enabled, so please check with the help or user guide associated with the blocking application.
The SecureTunnel website uses an independent authentication system than our provided services. Thre reason being, is that if you do have a problem with your service, we still want you to be able to log into your account at the website in order to service your account and issue support requests with our staff.
Yes, our servers are CaSe sensitive. This is the most common reason for Authentication Errors.
SecureTunnel hides your real IP address behind our servers. You will still have the IP address that your ISP issued to you, but this IP address will be hidden behind the SecureTunnel servers. Your IP address will appear to be a SecureTunnel IP address. The location of your IP address will depend on which SecureTunnel server you choose to connect to. You can change your IP address from a US, EU, or any other IP available, depending on which server you choose.
Facebook, YouTube, ESPN, and just about any other site you can name is available through SecureTunnel. The SecureTunnel VPN or proxy servers will unblock facebook.
You can connect using your favorite usenet software using your ST Username and Password. The server address is news.securetunnel.com, we recommend connecting using SSL port 563.
While SecureTunnel philosophically supports the use of bittorrent technology for distribution of legally obtainable non-copyrighted material, due to abuses of bittorrent with pirated and/or copyrighted material SecureTunnel blocks this technology in our US-based servers.
The use of SecureTunnel networks to obtain pirated or other copyright protected material is a violation of our terms of service and is grounds for termination of your account.

The 109 error is a known bug, and most of the time is resolved by simply clicking the connect button again without changing any settings. We are working on a patch for this bug and will be updating the software soon.
This is a known bug in the current version of the Mac OS X version of SecureTunnel Private Network. We are working to fix the issue and should have an update out shortly.

The port number would be displayed in red if another piece of software has already bound that port. Webtunnel SSH will not work properly until this is corrected. You must change the port number by entering the connections tab, clicking the paper pencil icon, and then entering a different port number. When you go back to the status tab, you should find that the port is now green.
The error you see usually occurs when there is instability in the encrypted connection. This can be caused by a poor quality connection between your PC and our server, local restrictions from your ISP that are blocking connections to SecureTunnel, or if we are doing maintenance on the system. We're continually working on improvements to the client so do look for upgrade notices that should happen when you launch our software. One of the biggest culprits are software firewalls or other "Network Security" applications like Norton Security Suite, or other antivirus software which can block these encrypted connections without warning to you. If you are using such an application, you should try disabling this to see if it improves the use of Surf. If it does, you know you need to add an exception to your security software to allow the Surf application. When this error occurs, Surf will close down automatically as a safety feature to prevent any accidental unencrypted traffic from occurring.
